BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle preventing normal muscle contraction thereby reducing the lines caused by dynamic movement when facial expression is made such as smiling or frowning.
BOTOX® is the most well-known of the Botulinum Toxin brands. At Kirkcudbright Dental Surgery we use both Botox® and the other leading brand AZZALURE®.
The treatments most often performed are;
- Smooth the frown lines between the brows
- Reduce forehead lines and smile lines (crows-feet) around the eyes
- Lift turned down mouth corners
- Reduce dimpled chins
We aim to soften or eliminate lines without losing all facial expression.
Treatment takes just 15 minutes and the tiny injections cause little discomfort. Any swelling and redness will disappear within 30 minutes. The effects will start within 3-4 days, the full effects will be evident in just 2 weeks.
